Complex care is the care of someone who has significant, continuing medical, behavioural or social needs or a combination of these.  This type of care is for anyone of any age whether they were born with a condition or disability, have developed an illness as they have aged or acquired complex needs due to an injury.

The NHS is the principal provider of care for people with an identified complex care need.  Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) arrange care which can be provided in a care facility such as a nursing home or hospital or persons own home.
Your Local Authority (council) may also provide some services.

Complex care funding is through the NHS and its Clinical Commission Groups (CCGs).   To be eligible for NHS Complex Healthcare, an individual’s main or primary need must relate to their health.  Local Authority (council) funding is means tested.

Our nurse-led teams care for babies right through to adults and those at the end of their life. Clinical care includes respiratory and airway support, like tracheostomy or ventilator management, feeding support including PEG feeding, pain and medicine management and catheter, bowel and stoma care.

Our carer’s are able to provide care for medical or mental health needs alongside personal care and domestic help.

We work closely with the person for whom care is for, their families and any medial professional involved in their care.  A bespoke care plan that meets both their medical and well-being needs is devised and is regularly reviewed. 

Every person we care for as an individual care plan. They are bespoke and tailored to an individual’s medical and clinical needs but also take into consideration any personal, social and well-being need they have.  All our carers work to these plans and they are reviewed regularly as a person’s needs change.

Yes, you or your loved one will have a regular care team who have are matched to them based on the specific medical and clinical needs and skills required to give them the best care.

We can put care and support in place quickly and in many cases within 24 hours depending up on the clinical needs.  Our care teams currently work across Devon including Plymouth and Torbay.

All our carers go through a rigorous interview process to ensure they have the skills, experience and understanding of providing complex care in an individual’s home. We require carers who join us to have at least a year’s formal care experience.  All carers complete our induction training programme, which goes above mandatory requirements. In addition they receive bespoke training from our Registered Nurse team and other healthcare professionals to ensure they can care for people with a specific condition or care need. Our cares then have their competencies signed off before attending a client.
