Cathy

Care Director, Registered Manager
& Practicing Nurse (RGN & RSCN)

  • Cathy has been a Registered General and Paediatric Nurse for more than 30 years, with an unblemished record and a career in clinical leadership, management and commissioning.
  • After completing her Nurse training in 1987 she went onto join Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in in 1991 where she qualified as a Registered Sick Children’s nurse (RSCN).
  • On moving to Devon, she has held a number of senior roles including Quality Lead for Devon Children’s Services and then Governance Lead for Integrated Children’s services for the whole of the South West of England.
  • Her WINGs work on transitioning children to adult services was published in the Paediatric Nurse and was recognised with a Health and social Care awarded which she collected at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
  • Not one to stand still she has continued to train, and holds a Diploma in Coaching and Leadership, is a accredited trainer to deliver a number of courses as well as keeping up with the training needed to maintain Registered Manager status with Skills for Care, the national body for the NHS.
  • She is accountable for and responsible for the safe delivery of Ocean Healthcare Complex Care services.
  • Cathy still practices nursing and does do shifts with our care team.

Ken

Managing Director and Nominated Individual

  • Ken is a highly competent senior manager with over 20 years experiencing leading and managing organisations.
  • He is the owner and Managing Director of Ocean Healthcare.
  • He started the business in October 2013 and has grown it to be one of the largest nursing agency organisations in the South West.
  • He is deeply invested in Health & Social care within the region which includes providing and supporting best practice care events and working with the Care Managers Network.
  • Ken’s role as a Nominated Individual is to supervise the way that the regulated activity is managed. He is involved in key decisions and shaping the organisations future.

Sinead

Lead Nurse

  • Sinead has worked in healthcare for over 21 years having been a carer before training as a nurse.
  • She has a BSc in Nursing and is a Registered Learning Disability Nurse since 2003 with a particular specialism of Learning disability.
  • In her many years of experience, she has held roles including; Staff Nurse, Senior Nurse, Clinical Lead to Deputy Manager.
  • As our Lead Nurse, she ensures our care team have all the skills and training needed to provide care to our service users.
  • Her experience spans working in residential, nursing, community and respite settings as well as having worked in Day Services.
  • She has a passion for providing quality care for the elderly and those nearing the end of their life.
  • Sinead brings a wealth of general nursing knowledge and experience and really compliments our team with her additional skills in learning disabilities.

Paula

Nurse

  • Paula has been a Registered General Nurse since 1998.
  • She has worked in acute settings including Bristol Royal Infirmary, Royal Devon & Exeter on wards and theatres in particular specialising in ear, nose and throat (ENT), Vascular, plastic and reconstruction surgery through to general surgery.
  • She later moved into complex care looking after a child with complex tracheotomy and airway management needs.
  • Paula brings a wealth of knowledge and experience caring for both adults and children.
  • She is a practicing nurse and supports the care team on shifts.
